National Security Minister Ben Gvir Responds to Ninth Assassination Attempt by Arab from Nazareth

Itamar Ben Gvir, Israel's National Security Minister, sharply responded to the recent arrest of a 29-year-old Nazareth resident, Mohammad Awad, who planned to assassinate him. Ben Gvir stated this was the ninth attempt by terror groups targeting him and expressed gratitude to the Shin Bet, Israeli Police, Prison Service intelligence, and the Magen unit for thwarting the plot. Awad was detained following a joint operation by Shin Bet and the Northern District Police after it was revealed he sought to join Hamas and obtain resources to carry out terror activities. The Northern District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment declaration against Awad in the Nazareth court.

Ben Gvir reaffirmed his commitment to continue his security policies despite the threats, including prison reforms, demolishing illegal homes, enforcing the death penalty for terrorists, asserting Israeli sovereignty over the Temple Mount, establishing rapid response units, and arming all Israeli citizens. The arrest comes amid intensified security operations in the West Bank, where the IDF conducted 250 offensive actions last week, arresting over 60 suspects and confiscating weapons, drones, and incitement materials. Ben Gvir concluded by emphasizing his resolve to work around the clock for the people of Israel, undeterred by ongoing threats to his life and family.
