Iconic Mastigam Popsicle Returns to Freezers After Long Absence

After months of absence, the legendary Mastigam popsicle is back on production lines and store freezers across Israel. The beloved treat, known for its unique chewing stick, disappeared from shelves last year, causing disappointment among devoted fans who searched many stores in vain. Rumors circulated that the factory in Acre had temporarily closed due to the war, or that production was affected by strained relations with Turkey, where a major factory is located. However, Strauss has now confirmed the popsicle's return.

A visit to the factory revealed that the development of the iconic chewing stick took years to perfect, achieving the right taste and texture that allows it to hold the popsicle while being enjoyable to chew. The Mastigam originated in the 1980s as a popsicle called Psapsim, and the current version with the chewing stick was launched in 1995, becoming a nostalgic favorite.

Today, the factory operates a fully robotic production line, producing tens of thousands of units daily. Fans of the Mastigam can now look forward to finding it again in freezers near them, ending a long wait for this unique and cherished treat.
