Israeli Man Arrested Near Rantis Crossing for Smuggling Over 5,000 Cigarette Packs from Palestinian Territories

A man in his 30s from Petah Tikva was arrested following a police chase near the Rantis crossing after attempting to evade a security check. Authorities signaled him to stop for inspection, but upon realizing a search was imminent, he fled in a reckless manner. Police caught up with him shortly thereafter. During the vehicle search, officers discovered 5,390 packs of cigarettes suspected to have been smuggled from Palestinian Authority areas, along with a knife. The suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.
