Firefighters Battle Forest Fire Near Shamsheet in Jezreel Valley, Residents Told to Stay Indoors

On Saturday afternoon, 12 firefighting teams supported by four firefighting aircraft worked to extinguish a forest fire near the village of Shamsheet in the Jezreel Valley. The Northern District of Israel Fire and Rescue Services reported two fire fronts spreading due to strong winds. Residents in the area were advised to remain indoors, close windows and doors, and avoid unnecessary outdoor activity because of heavy smoke.

Firefighting teams from the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael) also operated on the ground to control the blaze. According to the fire services, there is currently no danger to the village and no evacuation orders have been issued. Deputy Commander of the Nof HaGalil station, Superintendent Ofir Edri, stated that efforts are focused on containing the fire on two fronts using ground forces, firefighting aircraft, and KKL teams to prevent the fire from reaching residential areas.

In addition to the Jezreel Valley fire, a separate fire broke out near Mitzpe Yishai in the Shomron region, where the fire was contained at the edge of the homes.
