Google Updates Gmail AI to Allow Personalized Email Draft Editing

Google has introduced a major update to its Gmail AI tool, "Help Me Write," which is powered by Gemini. This new feature enables users to interact directly with the AI-generated email drafts by typing personalized instructions to modify or correct the text. Instead of accepting the AI's initial draft as final, users can now request specific changes, such as adding omitted details or inserting clear deadlines, directly from their inbox.

This upgrade offers greater flexibility compared to previous editing options, which were limited to shortening text or changing tone between friendly and formal. Users can also easily undo or redo edits, making the email drafting process more efficient and tailored to individual needs.

The feature is currently rolling out gradually and is available to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers, as well as business, organizational, and educational users on Google AI Pro for Education and Frontier Plus plans. Google expects the full rollout to eligible users to be completed by July 20. This advancement aims to simplify email composition by allowing users to guide the AI precisely, reducing the need for manual rewriting and enabling faster, more professional communication.
