Google Cloud Launches AI Feature to Automate Gmail and Calendar Management
Google Cloud has introduced a new AI-powered feature designed to automate the management of Gmail inboxes and Google Calendar schedules. This tool allows users to set scheduled tasks that run in the cloud, such as drafting email replies and updating calendar events, without requiring constant manual input. To use the feature, users must have a paid Google Cloud account and connect relevant add-ons like Gmail and Google Calendar or install the Cloud add-on for Outlook.
The AI operates reliably even when the user's device is off, as tasks run on the cloud. Users maintain control by approving any access to sensitive information and must review and send AI-generated email drafts themselves. The system can scan inboxes hourly, prepare draft responses, and add calendar invitations automatically based on user instructions.
To optimize performance, users are encouraged to train the AI on their important emails and communication style by allowing it to read past sent messages. Integrations with tools like Slack and Google Drive provide broader context, enabling the AI to craft more precise replies with relevant document links or team updates. Users transitioning from other AI tools can import existing prompts and update them within Google Cloud, starting with the Sonnet model and upgrading to Opus if needed.
With the upcoming mobile launch, managing emails and calendars via AI automation will become more accessible and convenient for users on the go.
