Three Grenade Attacks Target Musli Crime Family Homes in Central Israel
Within approximately two hours on the evening of September 13, 2025, three grenade attacks occurred at private residences in Tel Aviv, Ness Ziona, and Herzliya, all linked to individuals associated with the Musli crime family. The first incident happened around 8:00 PM in Tel Aviv, where police found evidence of a grenade explosion near a home connected to the Musli family but no casualties. At 10:00 PM, a second grenade was thrown at a house in Ness Ziona, also linked to the family. About 20 minutes later, a third grenade exploded at the corner of Simcha Holtzberg and Yehuda Hanasi streets in Herzliya, causing minor damage to nearby vehicles but no injuries.
Police suspect these attacks are coordinated and related to organized crime, focusing on the Musli family, a powerful criminal organization led by brothers Yossi and Eli Musli. The police are collecting forensic evidence and reviewing security footage to identify the perpetrators. No arrests have been made yet, and investigations continue to determine connections between the incidents.
The Musli family has been under police surveillance since the late 1990s due to their involvement in violent crimes, including murder and attempted murder. Their criminal empire, estimated to be worth over half a billion shekels, reportedly includes illegal gambling, extortion, high-interest loans, and overseas casino operations. Another brother, Shay Musli, is believed to run the organization’s branch in South Africa.
Yossi Musli has served multiple prison terms, including an 11-year sentence starting in 2007 for conspiracy to commit murder and a recent 14-month term for involvement in a grenade attack against a rival gang member. Despite heavy suspicions, many police cases against the Musli brothers have collapsed or resulted in lenient sentences. The family rose to prominence after the extradition of notorious criminal Itzik Abergil to the U.S., leveraging alliances with other crime leaders to expand their influence both in Israel and abroad.
The police continue to investigate the recent grenade attacks as part of ongoing efforts to curb escalating violence within Israel’s organized crime underworld.
