Haifa Laser Treatment Business Owner Arrested Over Hidden Camera Allegations
A 49-year-old Haifa resident and owner of a laser treatment business in the city's Danya neighborhood was arrested on suspicion of violating customer privacy. Police received a complaint against the business owner, and during a search of the premises, they discovered a hidden camera and recording system inside the treatment room. The treatment room is located within a hair salon and was recently converted from a former office space. The complainant, a woman who rented the room from the owner, reported the incident.
The Haifa District Court ordered the suspect's release under restrictive conditions but agreed to the police's request to delay the release pending further hearings. The suspect's lawyer, Ronen Haliwa, stated that the room had been used for various purposes over the years and that security cameras had been installed throughout the salon long before the incident as part of standard security measures. He emphasized that the camera in question was not hidden and that there is no evidence the suspect viewed any recordings. Haliwa added that his client is fully cooperating and regrets any discomfort caused. Both the Magistrate's Court and the District Court found no justification for continued detention and ordered the suspect's release.
