Ironi Nes Ziona Nears Signing Former Panathinaikos Center Jacob Wiley
Ironi Nes Ziona is continuing to strengthen its roster ahead of the upcoming season, following the recent signing of Paris Lee. The Israeli basketball club is now in advanced talks to acquire center Jacob Wiley, who previously played for Panathinaikos and last season competed with Rytas Vilnius in the Basketball Champions League (BCL).
Wiley, 31, stands 2.03 meters tall and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2017, where he was recognized as an All-American player. He began his professional career with five games for the Brooklyn Nets, including time in the NBA Development League, and has since played for several teams across Europe and Australia. His notable stints include Panathinaikos in 2020, where he averaged 5.4 points per game, and an outstanding season with Zaragoza in the BCL. He also played for Buducnost in the EuroCup and finished last season with Real Betis.
Before joining Rytas Vilnius, Wiley played in Adelaide and Gran Canaria, including seven EuroLeague games. He left Rytas last season due to family reasons but averaged 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in the BCL. Currently, he is playing in the Puerto Rican league, posting 12.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Alongside Wiley and Paris Lee, Ironi Nes Ziona has signed Adam Ariel and guard Vincent Amsalem, while retaining Jackson Rowe, Spencer Weiss, and T.J. Klein. Bryce Brown is also expected to continue with coach Paul Corsaro’s team as they prepare for the new season.
