Youth Leader Finds Severed Head of 22-Year-Old in Rishon Lezion Sand Dunes

On the morning of March 11, 2024, a youth instructor conducting a preliminary tour for an upcoming activity discovered a severed head in an open area near Highway 431, between Rishonim Mall and the Paz gas station in Rishon Lezion. She immediately alerted the police, prompting a large response from the Central District forces who launched an investigation at the scene.

Initial suspicions pointed to a criminal incident, but further investigation revealed a tragic event. Authorities found the body of a 22-year-old local resident known to mental health services. A letter addressed to his family was also discovered at the site.

Police continue to collect evidence and conduct extensive searches in the area to uncover additional information that might clarify the circumstances of the case. The investigation remains in its early stages.
