ZAKA volunteers were called on Wednesday evening to two separate scenes in Rishon Lezion, where the bodies of two elderly men were found. The incidents came one after the other and shocked local residents and the medical teams that responded.
The first report reached ZAKA at about 10:00 p.m. about an 88-year-old man found lifeless in his home on Mזרחי Street. Responders arrived and pronounced him dead. ZAKA's Shfela district volunteers handled the scene with respect for the deceased and arranged for the body to be released for burial.
About 50 minutes later, at around 10:50 p.m., another report was received about a man in his 70s found in an advanced state of decomposition in an apartment on Anna Frank Street in Rishon Lezion. Because the first scene had just been completed, the same ZAKA teams were immediately sent to the second location.
At the time of the report, the volunteers were still working at the second scene, collecting findings and treating the deceased with dignity.
