Samaria Regional Council Head Mourns Death of Pro-Israel U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of senior U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham at age 71. Dagan, who maintained a close relationship with Graham for many years, described him as one of Israel's greatest and most loyal friends. He praised Graham as a true lover of Israel and an idealist motivated by Christian faith, who believed Jews should return to the Land of Israel and worked for decades to strengthen U.S.-Israel ties.

Dagan highlighted Graham's unwavering determination to stand with Israel under all circumstances, noting that the Republican senator did not hesitate to confront anyone, including U.S. presidents, when Israel's security was at stake. Graham viewed countering the Iranian regime and its nuclear ambitions, as well as ensuring Israel's survival, as his life's mission. Their special bond was evident in Graham's outspoken support for Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria. Just a month prior, Graham co-hosted a major pro-Samaria conference at the U.S. Capitol alongside Dagan.

Recognized as one of the most pro-Israel voices in the U.S. Senate, Graham openly opposed criticism of Israel during conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, praising the IDF's actions against terrorists in Beirut's Dahieh district. Dagan summarized, "The civilized world has lost a role model, and a great void has opened in the foundation of the shared camp of the civilized world on both sides of the ocean. We must work hard in both the U.S. and Israel to fill this gap. May his memory be blessed."

Numerous Israeli politicians expressed shock and grief at Graham's death. Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called him "one of Israel's greatest friends," emphasizing Graham's support was based on conviction rather than convenience.
