Hapoel Tel Aviv Extends Antonio Blakeney's Contract Through 2029

Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball club announced on Friday the extension of American guard Antonio Blakeney's contract until the end of the 2028/29 season. Blakeney, who joined the team in October 2024, has been a key player over the past two seasons, contributing significantly to the club's EuroCup victory and its debut EuroLeague playoff appearance last season.

During the last EuroLeague season, Blakeney played 41 games, averaging 13.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and one assist per game, with shooting percentages of 53.8% on two-pointers and 40% from three-point range. In the Israeli Premier League, he appeared in 13 regular-season games, averaging 12.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, shooting 41.2% from beyond the arc.

Expressing enthusiasm about the extension, Blakeney stated, "I am very excited to sign and continue here. We have a long journey ahead. I am signed for three more seasons and hopefully many years after that. We fell short of some goals last year, but with the core returning, we aim to achieve all our objectives next season. Hapoel's sporting director, George Chinas, emphasized the importance of continuity, praising Blakeney as one of the best scorers in the EuroLeague who has improved significantly. Coach Dimitris Itoudis also welcomed the extension, highlighting Blakeney's hard work, love for the game, and shared values, expecting him to keep helping the team reach its goals.
