Hapoel Tel Aviv Extends Antonio Blakeney's Contract Through 2029 Season
Hapoel Tel Aviv has announced the extension of American guard Antonio Blakeney's contract until the end of the 2028/29 season. Blakeney joined the team in October 2024 and has been a key player in the club's recent successes, including their historic EuroCup victory and debut EuroLeague season. In their first EuroLeague appearance, Hapoel reached the playoffs, securing another season in the competition.
Last season, Blakeney played 41 EuroLeague games, averaging 13.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and one assist per game, with shooting percentages of 53.8% on two-pointers and 40% from three-point range. In the Israeli Premier League, he appeared in 13 regular-season games, averaging 12.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, shooting 37.7% on two-pointers and 41.2% from beyond the arc.
After signing the extension, Blakeney expressed excitement about continuing with Hapoel, emphasizing the team's long-term goals and his commitment to contributing to future success. Sporting director George Chinas highlighted Blakeney's consistent performance and improvement, calling him one of the top scorers in the EuroLeague. Head coach Dimitris Itoudis praised Blakeney's work ethic and role in the team's growth, expecting him to keep helping the club achieve its objectives.
