16 Women Treated for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning at Jerusalem Beauty Salon

Sixteen women lost consciousness due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at a beauty salon in the A-Tur neighborhood of Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency teams, including firefighters and hazardous materials units, responded to the scene on Sheikh Anbar Street after receiving reports of multiple women fainting simultaneously. The women were evacuated by Magen David Adom paramedics to Hadassah Medical Center Ein Kerem, where they received treatment in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber overnight.

Hadassah Medical Center reported that all 16 patients remain hospitalized under medical supervision in stable condition, with some expected to be discharged later on Thursday. The hyperbaric chamber treatment is used to accelerate the removal of carbon monoxide from the blood and prevent long-term damage. Authorities have not yet identified the exact source or substance responsible for the poisoning.

Jerusalem police and emergency responders continue investigating the incident, including air quality tests at the salon. This event follows a similar recent case in the city where four children were hospitalized after suspected exposure to hazardous air substances in the Mekor Baruch neighborhood. The ongoing medical monitoring and investigation highlight concerns about air safety in public spaces in Jerusalem.
