12 Women Treated for Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisoning at Jerusalem Beauty Salon
Twelve women aged 20 to 40 suffered mild to moderate injuries after inhaling suspected toxic fumes at a beauty salon on Sheikh Anbar Street in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of A-Tur. The incident is believed to involve carbon monoxide poisoning caused by an illegally installed generator at the site, according to Jerusalem Fire and Rescue Commander Superintendent Shmulik Friedman. The salon owners have been detained for investigation.
Seven of the women were reported in moderate condition and five in mild condition. Magen David Adom teams provided on-site medical treatment before transporting the victims to Hadassah Ein Kerem, Hadassah Mount Scopus, and Shaare Zedek hospitals. Emergency services, including firefighters from the Egoz station, responded promptly to the scene.
Police from the Shalem station secured the area, assisted emergency responders, and maintained clear traffic routes for evacuation. The fire department emphasized the danger of using unauthorized or improperly connected generators, especially in enclosed spaces, and praised the rapid response that prevented a more serious disaster. Authorities urged the public to follow safety guidelines and use equipment only as directed.
