Retired Colonel Talia Lankri Joins Yisrael Beiteinu to Strengthen Security Leadership
Retired Colonel Talia Lankri has officially joined the Yisrael Beiteinu party, announced the party's spokesperson on Wednesday. Lankri currently serves as a national security advisor and lecturer, as well as a council member and head of the Ometz faction in the local council of Gedera. She has previously contributed to key defense committees, including the Nagel Committee on defense budgeting and force structure, and the Turgeman Committee reviewing the October 7th investigations.
Lankri held significant roles in the National Security Council, including deputy head for counterterrorism policy, internal security, and home front affairs, and was head of the home front division. She was also the first female battalion commander at the IDF's Officer Training School (Bahad 1). Reflecting on her decision to enter politics, Lankri stated that after the events of October 7th, she felt compelled to actively contribute to restoring security and influencing decision-making processes. She emphasized her belief in action over slogans, execution over publicity, and responsibility over short-term political considerations, finding alignment with Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman’s vision of a strong state, governance, security, and public service.
Avigdor Lieberman welcomed Lankri’s addition, highlighting her extensive security and national experience and deep understanding of decision-making systems and home front challenges. He said her joining strengthens Yisrael Beiteinu’s professional security team and pledged to lead with responsibility, determination, and zero tolerance for terrorism to restore security, governance, and public trust in Israel.
