Former National Security Deputy Talya Lankri Joins Yisrael Beiteinu Ahead of 2026 Elections
Yisrael Beiteinu announced on Wednesday that Colonel (res.) Talya Lankri has joined the party as it prepares for the upcoming 2026 elections. Lankri, a former deputy head of the National Security Council (NSC) responsible for counterterrorism, internal security, and home front policy, will now be active in the party's political efforts. Currently, she serves as a national security advisor and lecturer and is a member of the local council in Gedera.
During her military career, Lankri held several key positions, including the first female battalion commander at the IDF's Officer Training School (Bahad 1), head of the defense department in the operations division, and head of the operational employment branch. She also led the home front division at the NSC. Additionally, she participated in the Nagal Committee, which reviewed the defense budget, and the Turgeman Committee, which examined the investigations following the October 7 attacks.
Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman has been preparing the party for the 2026 elections, and Lankri's integration into the party is seen as a boost to its national security credentials. Her extensive experience in defense and security policy is expected to contribute significantly to the party's platform and campaign activities.
