Israeli Airline Arkia Resumes Direct Flights to Morocco After Three Years
Israeli airline Arkia announced it will resume direct flights between Israel and Morocco starting August 24, 2023. The flights will operate twice weekly from Ben Gurion Airport to Marrakech Airport on Mondays and Wednesdays.
This route had been suspended since October 7, 2023, following a Shin Bet ban on Israeli planes landing in Morocco, which led both Arkia and El Al to halt their services. Arkia has been negotiating with Israeli security agencies for several months to reinstate the route and has now received approval to operate flights using leased aircraft rather than its own planes. This makes Arkia the only airline currently offering direct flights from Israel to Morocco.
Arkia stated that ticket prices will start at $329 one way. It also emphasized that Israeli passport holders must obtain a visa before traveling to Morocco, so travelers should prepare accordingly.
