Arkia Resumes Direct Flights from Tel Aviv to Marrakech After Three-Year Hiatus
Arkia Airlines announced it will restart direct flights from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport to Marrakech, Morocco, beginning August 24, 2026. This service had been suspended for three years due to the war and subsequent security concerns. The flights will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays using Airbus A320 aircraft. Ticket prices will start at $329 one way.
The resumption follows prolonged negotiations between Arkia's management and Israeli security authorities. Israeli travelers must obtain a visa in advance to enter Morocco. The direct route was initially halted at the start of the "Iron Swords" conflict when the National Security Council raised Morocco's travel warning to level 3.
Despite the suspension, some Israelis continued to reach Morocco via connecting flights through Spain, Germany, and other European countries, even amid local protests against Israel featuring Palestinian flags. Last year, Israel's Ministry of Transportation announced an agreement with Morocco to renew direct flights to Marrakech and Casablanca, but Arkia's announcement marks the first concrete step toward restoring the service.
