Chili Tropper and Yoaz Hendel's Reservists Party Join Forces for Broad Zionist Government
In a significant political development on Tuesday, Knesset member Chili Tropper and the Reservists Party, led by Yoaz Hendel, agreed to run together in the upcoming elections. This alliance aims to establish a broad Zionist government after the elections, marking a first step toward creating a substantial political force focused on national and diplomatic issues.
The cooperation follows recent intensive talks that culminated in full agreement between the two sides. Tropper, who recently left the Blue and White party, had been working on registering an independent party while engaging with various political figures. Meanwhile, Hendel's Reservists Party is also negotiating with other coalition members, including MKs Moshe Solomon from Religious Zionism and Dan Illouz from Likud, both of whom opposed the exemption from military service law and the Basic Law on Torah Study.
Solomon was removed from Knesset committees after voting against the Basic Law on Torah Study, a move reportedly influenced by Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who learned of Solomon's contacts with the Reservists Party. Tropper's team confirmed ongoing discussions with individuals involved in rebuilding the country's leadership and emphasized that Tropper does not intend to waste votes from center-left bloc supporters. The new party is expected to serve as a political tool for alliances rather than running independently, with the primary goal of forming a broad consensus government.
Additionally, Blue and White MK Michael Biton recently stated that the party seeks to establish a broad consensus government even if Benjamin Netanyahu leads it, reflecting public fatigue with division and a desire for moderation. Biton highlighted that the previously criticized parity model was successful in providing restraint and balance.
