Portuguese Defender Jota Gonzalves Signs with Hapoel Ramat Gan
Hapoel Ramat Gan officially announced the signing of Portuguese defender Jota Gonzalves on July 5, 2026. The 26-year-old center-back, who can play both right and left center-back positions and occasionally as a defensive midfielder, joins the newly promoted Israeli Premier League team as a free agent after his contract with Vizela in Portugal ended. Gonzalves previously played for Tondela before moving to Vizela, where he made 16 appearances in Portugal's second division last season.
He is expected to join Ramat Gan's training sessions soon and will participate in the team's upcoming training camp in Austria. Gonzalves is the sixth new signing for Hapoel Ramat Gan this season, following Maksim Plakuschenko, Amit Tzur, Idan Barness, Ofek Ovadia, and Daniel Tishler, who joined on loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv.
