Hapoel Ramat Gan is reportedly set to strengthen its defense by signing Portuguese defender Joao Goncalves as a free agent. Portuguese media reported on July 2, 2026, that Goncalves, 26, will join the newly promoted Israeli Premier League club after his contract with Vizela, a Portuguese second division team, expired.
Goncalves is versatile, capable of playing as a right or left center-back and occasionally as a defensive midfielder. He began his professional career at Tondela before moving to Vizela, where he made 16 league appearances last season.
