Yam Madar Signs Multi-Year Deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv After Intense Negotiations

Yam Madar is set to sign a multi-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, concluding a major summer saga in Israeli basketball. The agreement was finalized following a late-night meeting between Madar, Maccabi officials, and head coach Oded Katash at the home of Maccabi's manager, Ami Biton. Madar, previously with city rivals Hapoel Tel Aviv, agreed to a three-year deal with an option for two additional years, worth $2 million per season including bonuses. This contract is $1 million less per year than the offer he received from Hapoel Tel Aviv, reflecting his desire to play under Katash.

Madar returned to Israel from Latvia after Israel's loss to Germany in a recent game and contacted Maccabi late Friday night to confirm his attendance at the meeting. He is expected to sign officially today before flying to Croatia to join the Israeli national team’s final training session. Madar's transfer adds to a growing list of Israeli players moving from Hapoel to Maccabi.

In other team developments, Maccabi Tel Aviv is close to finalizing a new and improved contract with Roman Sorkin and recently extended captain John DiBartolomeo’s contract for two more years. Negotiations have also resumed with Ifa Lundberg, with hopes to secure him for at least two additional seasons.
