Yam Madar Nears Three-Year Deal With Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball

Yam Madar is close to finalizing a major transfer to Maccabi Tel Aviv after a lengthy meeting with club officials overnight between Saturday and Sunday. The point guard and the team reached key understandings, with the deal expected to be completed soon, allowing Madar to play under coach Oded Katash. Madar expressed his desire to join the club during the discussions, which concluded with agreement on contract terms.

The contract is expected to span three years with a mutual option for an additional two years, paying Madar approximately $2 million per season. Although the deal is not yet officially signed, only minor details remain to be settled in the coming hours. Prior to the meeting with the club owners, Madar met privately with Katash, who conveyed his appreciation and strong interest in having Madar on the team.

Madar returned to Israel during the national team window specifically to finalize this agreement before rejoining the Israeli national team for their upcoming game against Croatia. Madar impressed in the recent finals series playing for Hapoel Tel Aviv against Maccabi Tel Aviv, scoring 34 points with 10 assists in game two and 26 points with 9 assists in game four, following a 41-point performance in the last regular-season derby. Last season, he averaged 13.2 points (41.8% from three-point range) and 4 assists per game in the Israeli Premier League, and 3.1 points in 9:42 minutes per game in the EuroLeague.
