7-Year-Old Boy Killed by Bus in Modiin Illit, Police Investigate

Moshe Glinsky, a 7-year-old boy, died on Thursday after being struck by a bus on Rabbi Akiva Street in Modiin Illit. Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene and confirmed his death, noting he suffered multiple severe injuries. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

This tragedy follows a recent spate of fatal accidents involving children. Three days earlier, a 9-year-old girl was killed in Rosh HaAyin after being hit by a minibus while riding a scooter; the minibus driver was detained for questioning. Additionally, two hours after that accident, a motorcyclist died in Kiryat Ata on Haifa Road.

According to the Beterem organization, 39 children have died in traffic accidents since the start of 2026. Over the past five years (2021-2025), 252 children lost their lives in similar incidents, with about 19% aged between 5 and 9 years old.

Orly Silbinger, CEO of Beterem, emphasized the vulnerability of children, especially pedestrians, and the dangers posed by public transportation vehicles due to children’s low height creating blind spots for drivers. She urged parents to remain vigilant, particularly as summer vacation begins and children spend more time in public spaces, calling for increased caution to prevent further tragedies.
