A prisoner from Hermon Prison, identified as Eyal Haib, 30, was shot and killed Friday morning near the Tsalmon Stream junction in the Galilee. Haib, a resident of Tuba Zangaria, was serving an 18-year sentence for manslaughter, handed down in 2015, and had been released for work as part of a rehabilitation program. He was found on a sidewalk near a bus stop, unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene after resuscitation attempts by MDA paramedics. Police have opened an investigation, stating the motive appears to be criminal.

This incident marks the fourth murder in Israel within approximately 12 hours. On Thursday evening, two men were killed and eight others injured in six separate shooting incidents across Tamra, Baka al-Gharbiyya, Nazareth, Holon, Qalansawe, and Kafr Qasim. Earlier that evening, a woman in her 20s was found dead in her home in the Negev's Nevot locality, with signs of injury on her body. Police are investigating this as a suspected murder.

In Tamra, 22-year-old Yosef Hamad was killed and another person moderately injured. In Baka al-Gharbiyya, 25-year-old Mahmoud Al-Jamal, a resident of Qalansawe, was fatally shot, and four other men were injured, three seriously. Police believe the motives for these incidents are likely criminal and are investigating.

Following the shooting in Baka al-Gharbiyya, police conducted searches for suspects using a helicopter and roadblocks. Weapons and shell casings were found at the scene, and Commander of the Coastal District, Yechiel Bohdana, held a situation assessment. In Holon, one person was moderately injured by gunfire and taken to Wolfson Hospital.

According to Haaretz newspaper's tracking, 234 people have been murdered in Israel since the beginning of the year.
