Jonathan Motley, a former player for Hapoel Tel Aviv, will not travel with his current team, Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade), for their EuroLeague game against Olympiacos. Motley has fallen to third in the team's center hierarchy behind Abuka Ibekwe and Christian Koumadje. He has struggled since the season's start, posting a -13 efficiency rating in 14:08 minutes against Zalgiris Kaunas. After a minor injury, he returned for the game against Bayern Munich, scoring two points in 14:04 minutes while committing three fouls and shooting 1-of-4 from the field.
Crvena Zvezda's coach, Yvon Ndoye Navarro, stated before the game, "We are facing the best rebounding team in the EuroLeague, the team that generates the most points from second chances. We will need to stay focused for 40 minutes." The team reportedly worked intensely to register Koumadje, a Cameroonian player, due to visa issues. The game is the tenth round of the EuroLeague season.
