  • Ben Gurion Airport issued 50,995 traffic fines in 2025, an eightfold increase from 2022.
  • A new camera system installed in August 2024 is the primary reason for the surge in fines.
  • Parking in violation of road signs was the most common offense, with 46,278 tickets issued.
  • Over 28.4 million shekels in fines and late fees were collected between 2022 and 2025.
  • All collected revenue from the fines is directed to the state treasury.
  • A free waiting parking lot has been available since June 2026 to ease congestion.

In 2025, a total of 50,995 traffic violation fines were issued at Ben Gurion Airport, an increase of eightfold compared to 2022 and 2.8 times higher than in 2024. This dramatic rise is attributed to a new camera system installed by the Airports Authority in August 2024. The authority reported that the cameras have boosted monthly fines from hundreds to thousands.

The system's primary goals are to curb dangerous roadside stops and sudden lane changes, and to enhance the safety of inspectors who previously issued tickets manually. The most frequent offense, accounting for approximately 91% of all tickets (46,278 in 2025), was parking in violation of a road sign, an 8.9-fold increase from 2022. Other violations included obstructing traffic (1,772 tickets), parking on sidewalks (863 tickets), and parking at crosswalks (820 tickets).

Between 2022 and 2025, approximately 28.4 million shekels were collected from these fines, including 26.1 million in base fines and 2.3 million in late fees and interest. In 2025 alone, about 16.5 million shekels were collected. A fine for stopping against a sign near a terminal costs 500 shekels.

Fines are issued by Airports Authority employees authorized by the Minister of Transport, with collection handled by the Enforcement and Collections Authority. All revenue goes directly to the state treasury. To mitigate issues, the Airports Authority has offered a free first hour of parking at a special waiting lot a short drive from the terminal since June 2026.
