Ditzah Foghel, mother of Member of Knesset Tzvi Foghel, has passed away. Foghel was a Holocaust survivor, born in 1937 in Barlad, Romania, to Zvi and Bella Blum. She recounted her childhood during the persecution of Jews, recalling the Nazi invasion of her hometown when she was only four years old. "I understood that the situation for Jews was difficult. A Jew had to wear a yellow star, they called us 'stinking Jews'," she said. Foghel stated her family was affluent and her father used his wealth to shield them from some persecution, noting, "My father had the ability with money to buy silence." The city was liberated in August 1944, when she was seven. Her parents wished to immigrate to Israel, but her father, who held a senior position in the Mapai party, first wanted to ensure his own mother was cared for. Ditzah later married Haim Foghel, also a Holocaust survivor from Romania. In her final words, she conveyed a message of unity and acceptance, which she hoped to pass on to future generations: "We need to know how to be united, to love each other, to accept each other, which many of us lack today."

The funeral for Ditzah Foghel is scheduled for Sunday, November 1, at 2:00 PM at the new cemetery in Be'er Sheva.
