IDF Kills Islamic Jihad Terrorist Who Held Israeli Hostages in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet announced on Sunday the killing of Talal Jaber Muhammad Abd Al-Al, a terrorist operative in the Islamic Jihad organization. Abd Al-Al held multiple roles within the group and was involved in the October 7 attack inside Israel. He also participated in holding Israeli hostages in southern Gaza throughout the ongoing conflict.
Rom Breslavski, an Israeli hostage survivor who was held captive by Abd Al-Al, described the killing as "the most emotional day of my life." Breslavski recounted the brutal treatment he endured under Abd Al-Al's command, including physical abuse and humiliation. He posted a photo of the terrorist, known during captivity as "the martyr commander," and expressed his anger and relief at the news.
The IDF and Shin Bet statement confirmed Abd Al-Al commanded the terrorist cell that infiltrated Israeli territory and took part in the October 7 massacre. They emphasized that IDF Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area under existing agreements and will continue operations to neutralize immediate threats.
Breslavski’s personal testimony highlighted the severity of his captivity, describing Abd Al-Al as the leader who ordered his torture and nearly caused his death. Breslavski also referenced a defiant message Abd Al-Al sent to the Shin Bet during captivity, which Breslavski said was effectively countered. The killing marks a significant operational success for Israeli security forces amid ongoing hostilities in Gaza.
