Meta AI Launches on WhatsApp in Israel with New Chatbot Features

Meta AI, the artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Meta, has officially launched in Israel, arriving significantly later than in other parts of the world. Users in Israel can now interact with Meta AI directly through a new permanent button on the WhatsApp chat screen, allowing them to chat with the AI, request image and video creation, and more. This feature complements the existing Meta AI app and website, which are also available to Facebook and Instagram users in Israel.

Unlike many competitors, Meta AI is currently free to use without any limits on media creation, such as images or short videos. The chatbot supports Hebrew and English and offers a variety of functions including answering questions, providing recommendations, creating GIFs, and editing images using AI tools. Users can select from four options when generating media to better tailor the output. The AI assistant also supports multimodal capabilities, enabling it to interpret and explain images sent by users.

To access Meta AI via the app or browser, users must log in with their Facebook or Instagram accounts. Meta recently introduced premium subscription plans for Instagram and WhatsApp, but Meta AI remains free for now. The AI assistant is integrated as a WhatsApp contact, though the new button cannot be moved and may obscure chats. Additionally, Meta AI can be accessed through a sidebar link on Facebook once logged in.

Meta AI is powered by Muse Spark, Meta's advanced multimodal reasoning model designed for speed and complex problem-solving across various content types. The AI’s responses draw from user-generated content and recommendations across Meta’s platforms rather than relying solely on internet searches. This launch is part of Meta’s broader effort to develop a personal superintelligence assistant that understands and helps users with daily tasks beyond simple Q&A.

The rollout follows earlier sightings of Meta AI features in Israel in March 2026, which were temporary and inactive. The new WhatsApp integration marks a significant step in making AI tools more accessible and integrated into everyday communication for Israeli users.
