Father Arrested for Murder After Son Found Shot in Ramla, Initially Investigated as Suicide
The police announced on Monday afternoon the arrest of Aaron Saadia, 54, on suspicion of murdering his son, Shimon Saadia, 25, in Ramla about six weeks ago. Initially, the case was treated as a suicide after the son was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in his locked bedroom at the family home. However, a covert investigation raised doubts about the suicide theory, prompting further forensic examinations and evidence gathering.
On the day Shimon was found, initial suspicions of murder were weak but present, leading to Aaron being questioned and providing an open testimony. The crime scene did not align with a suicide scenario, according to sources involved in the investigation. The Central District Police's Crime Exposure Unit took over the case and initiated a covert inquiry after Aaron returned home post-interrogation.
Following forensic results and findings from the covert investigation, authorities moved to an open investigation and arrested Aaron early Monday morning. He denies the charges and is represented by attorneys Yaniv Tal and Miri Hertz, who stated that the police attributed premeditated murder to the father without allowing him legal counsel during initial questioning. The police requested and received a remand extension for Aaron until July 7. The investigation is ongoing.
