IDF to Detonate Large Tunnel Network in Southern Lebanon, Loud Explosion Expected in Northern Israel
Israeli authorities have warned residents along the northern border that a powerful explosion will be heard in the Western Galilee in the coming hours due to the destruction of a large tunnel network in southern Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) uncovered the extensive underground complex beneath the village of Majdal Zoun about a week ago. The tunnel system extends over 200 meters in length and reaches a depth of 29 meters, featuring 12 rooms used for habitation and weapons storage, blast doors, and construction standards allowing vehicle movement inside.
Military sources noted significant Iranian indicators within the tunnel complex. Majdal Zoun holds strategic importance as it overlooks the city of Tyre and the Tyre valley due to its elevation. The anticipated explosion may trigger independent seismic detection systems not connected to Israel's Home Front Command, but authorities emphasized that this is not an earthquake and poses no danger to residents.
The announcement aims to prepare civilians in the conflict zone for the upcoming blast, which is part of ongoing efforts to neutralize underground threats along the Israel-Lebanon border.
