Leading Torah Sages Gather to Cancel Harsh Decrees at Rabbi Ohr HaChaim's Memorial

Ahead of the upcoming yahrzeit of Rabbi Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh on Tuesday, 15th of Tammuz 5786 (June 25, 2024), a special gathering is planned to annul harsh decrees affecting the community. Three prominent Torah leaders, Rabbi Binyamin Finkel, Rabbi Naftali Nosovim, and Rabbi Yitzchak Pischel, will participate in this event at the holy gravesite of Rabbi Chaim ben Attar. These sages, deeply immersed in Torah study, will pray fervently for the donors of "Kupat Ha'Ir," a charity supporting thousands of needy families, including those of poor Torah scholars, families with ill or deceased parents, and those facing financial hardship.

The leaders emphasize the importance of sustaining this charitable institution, describing it as a protective force for the Jewish people. They urge the community to recognize and encourage donors, especially those contributing special donations in honor of the yahrzeit. Donors giving 611 shekels, symbolizing Rabbi Chaim ben Attar's name, will have their names mentioned personally during the prayers at the gravesite.

Following the prayers, the rabbis will sign a "decree annulment document," declaring that all severe decrees against the donors and their families are nullified through the merit of charity and Torah observance. The rabbis highlight the historical belief in the power of prayer at Rabbi Ohr HaChaim's tomb, citing the example of the Maharil Diskin, who sent urgent prayers there even on Shabbat for those in danger.
