Father Collapses at Son's Wedding, Revived by Guests and Medics

A man in his 60s collapsed during his son's wedding reception at an event hall in the Shfela region on Thursday evening. Guests immediately began performing CPR and administered three electric shocks using a defibrillator that was available at the venue. Magen David Adom (MDA) teams arrived on the scene and continued advanced resuscitation efforts, including medication and an additional electric shock. After extensive efforts, the man's pulse was restored, and he regained consciousness. His condition stabilized, and he was transported directly to the cardiac catheterization unit at Kaplan Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

Emergency medical technicians Eden Sinai and Meir Avivy, along with paramedics Moran Ben David and Chen Vermus, described the dramatic moments. "We arrived at the event hall and immediately understood it was a complex incident, with the groom's father collapsing during the wedding," they stated. "Those present acted quickly and began resuscitation, using a defibrillator available in the hall after receiving instructions from MDA's 101 dispatch center."

The MDA team continued, "We continued with advanced and prolonged resuscitation efforts, including electric shocks, administering resuscitation medications, and life-saving medical treatment. After many efforts, we succeeded in restoring his pulse, and he regained consciousness." They added, "This is a particularly moving moment, as our goal is to save lives, and in this case, to allow the father to return to his family after such a dramatic event on his son's joyous day."

MDA emphasized the importance of having defibrillators readily available in public places and urged the public to be aware of their locations and to call the emergency dispatch immediately in cases of collapse.
