  • An Egyptian private plane landed in Israel before Oct. 7 carrying two businessmen, not intelligence chief Abbas Kamel.
  • Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and security officials deny meeting with the Egyptian intelligence chief.
  • The businessmen entered Israel via the F Atal terminal in a routine business flight.
  • Passenger identities are withheld due to privacy regulations for executive flights.

A private Egyptian plane that landed in Israel about a week and a half before the October 7th massacre did not carry Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, as previously suggested, but rather two businessmen.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that he did not meet with Kamel and is unaware if anyone else did. Senior officials in the Israeli security and intelligence community have also denied meeting with the Egyptian intelligence chief.

The new report indicates that the aircraft was operated by the Egyptian charter company Smart Aviation. It landed in Israel around 10 AM and the two businessmen entered the country through the F Atal terminal as part of a routine flight.

According to sources familiar with the flight, it was not classified as an official or security-related flight but was one of several business flights occurring in the days leading up to the war. Former Military Secretary to the Prime Minister, Major General Avi Gill, had previously confirmed in media interviews that an Egyptian plane did land in Israel about a week and a half before the massacre.

The identities of the passengers are known to relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Transport, the F Atal terminal, the Population and Immigration Authority, and the Egyptian charter company. However, due to privacy regulations concerning executive flights, their identities have not been publicly disclosed.
