An explosion at the Intel factory in the Rabin Industrial Park in Kiryat Gat on Wednesday afternoon resulted in three workers sustaining severe injuries. Magen David Adom (MDA) teams, who arrived at the scene at 2:11 PM, provided medical treatment to the three individuals, who suffered burns. Their condition is described as serious, but they are fully conscious.

Initial police investigations suggest the explosion may have originated from a gas cylinder rupture. Following reports of a loud blast and thick black smoke emanating from the factory on Shderot Avitz Street, eight firefighting and rescue teams from Ashkelon and surrounding stations, including specialized hazardous materials units, were dispatched. Firefighters are conducting extensive searches for trapped individuals, working to contain the fire, and continuously monitoring the area for hazardous material leaks or spread.

Numerous police forces are working to isolate the scene and direct traffic around the factory to ensure the safe handling of the incident and prevent further public risk. Simultaneously, representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ashkelon Cities Association have arrived to assess the environmental implications of the explosion and its byproducts.

Kiryat Gat Mayor Kfir Suissa urged residents to avoid the area, stating, "Emergency and rescue forces are handling the incident. We ask that you follow the instructions of the security forces and refrain from gathering in the area."

MDA paramedics Yuval Elias and Moed Alamour, along with EMTs Aviad Ben Nahum and Ido Navon, reported treating three severely burned patients. Two individuals, aged approximately 50 and 30, were initially without pulse or respiration and underwent life-saving resuscitation efforts, including CPR and defibrillation. After their pulse returned, they were sedated, intubated, and transported to the hospital in serious condition. A third patient, a 26-year-old man, suffered severe burns to his upper body and was also evacuated to the hospital in serious condition.

United Hatzalah EMTs Yanki Weinberg and Moshe Winfield reported treating a critically injured man in his 40s with full-body burns. He was evacuated by ambulance, joined by a mobile intensive care unit, and after receiving two defibrillator shocks, his heart resumed beating. He was then transferred to Soroka Hospital.

United Hatzalah EMTs Hila Rinkoff and Tzvi Levin treated another patient, a man in his 30s, who was evacuated in critical condition after resuscitation efforts, and a third patient, around 25 years old, who was treated at the scene and evacuated in moderate to serious condition.
