Former Member of Knesset Emily Moatti, currently ranked 14th on the Democratic Party list, announced Tuesday that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in late summer. In a personal post, Moatti explained she initially withheld the news due to fears of pity but decided to share it to encourage other women to get screened, stating, "Early detection saves lives."

Moatti, who is running for the Knesset, felt it was important to disclose her condition as a public figure. She wrote, "I am updating also because I believe public figures should hold themselves to higher standards than others, but mainly to appeal to each and every one of you, please get screened."

She described her experience with the illness as difficult but not something she wished to portray positively. "Friends, I have no empowering or uplifting message to share. I am sad but very task-oriented. I am doing what needs to be done and waiting for it to end," she stated.

Moatti added that she is committed to her public service and will share further medical information if elected to the Knesset. "The thought that perhaps one of our lives will be saved thanks to this is more important than any of my feelings about publicity. If and when I am elected to the Knesset, I will share everything that needs to be known regarding my medical condition. I have no interest in hiding this from you."

Despite her diagnosis, Moatti intends to continue her election campaign activities without any special accommodations. She requested her party's campaign staff not to ease her schedule, emphasizing the importance of meeting with the public and being visible to them during this crucial election period.
