Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced Tuesday the successful completion of a test for an unmanned firing system equipped with an M250 machine gun, remotely piloted and controlled. The system, named FIRESTORM 250, can remain airborne for up to three hours, carrying 200 rounds. It is capable of remote control and precise firing without needing a dedicated runway. The system weighs approximately 24 kilograms.
The successful test demonstrated the system's ability to integrate aerial observation, target identification, and accurate firing in a combat simulation scenario. FIRESTORM 250 was developed by IAI in collaboration with the German company SIG SAUER.
"The successful test illustrates our vision to develop integrated solutions that provide ground forces with an operational advantage, expand their capabilities, and enable them to confront the changing challenges of the battlefield," said IAI CEO Guy Bar Lev. "The cooperation with SIG SAUER reflects the importance we place on strategic partnerships with leading global companies that combine complementary capabilities and allow us to bring innovative solutions to market."
