Alon Ohel Returns to the Stage to Perform at MUNI EXPO 2026
Alon Ohel appeared on stage at the Local Government Conference, MUNI EXPO 2026, a year after his parents had stood there with a yellow piano hoping for his return. This time, he came to play and sing, marking an emotional full-circle moment for the family.
His father, Kobi Ohel, told Channel 7 that the moment was especially moving because, one year earlier, Alon had been “deep inside a tunnel in Gaza” and the family did not know what would happen next. “Today I am here, Alon and the piano are on stage and it is moving,” he said, adding that the Local Government Center supported and accompanied the family throughout the ordeal.
Kobi Ohel said the family’s victory was Alon’s return home, and noted that he is now in a long rehabilitation process. He described Alon as strong, optimistic, and focused on activity, saying, “This is a return to life.”
During the performance, Alon told the audience, “You knew me as an artist even before I understood what I was going to do.” Before he was abducted, he had been planning his future and had not yet decided on a direction. His father said art, piano, and performing are part of Alon’s recovery, alongside appearing on stage with Israeli artists, and that the parents are now in a new place of visibility, looking forward with happiness and relief.
