Following the October 7th attacks, the IDF's Central Command has established a specialized unit tasked with monitoring and countering Palestinian online incitement to terrorism. This unit, operating in coordination with the Border Police and the Judea and Samaria District Police, aims to translate digital content into operational actions on the ground.

The unit's activities include identifying and dismantling incitement networks on social media, raiding locations associated with incitement, destroying monuments glorifying terrorists, and disrupting funding sources for such activities. A Central Command official stated that online content praising attacks or promoting Hamas can directly lead to real-world violence, emphasizing the need to address those who "praise an attack, celebrate an attack, present Hamas as a solution, or wave terror symbols."

Since its inception after October 7th, the unit has arrested over 600 individuals identified as key inciters, many of whom expressed support for the October 7th massacre. The IDF reports a significant increase in enforcement and disruption efforts, with 215 arrests made this year alone. In the past week, forces raided approximately 70 incitement targets and conducted over 1,000 operational activities, including investigations and warning talks.

Further measures include the removal of around 30 signs, symbols, and statues glorifying terrorists. Security forces have also conducted targeted demolitions of monuments and arrested individuals involved in financing and inciting around terror symbols. Efforts to combat the financial infrastructure of incitement have led to the closure of over 24 suspected charity organizations used for terror promotion and funding, along with the closure of more than 40 exchange offices and the seizure of substantial funds believed to be intended for terrorism. Printing houses used for incitement have also been sealed.

Officials note a trend where terrorism relies more on incitement, influence, and social pressure than on traditional organizational structures, requiring constant adaptation and proactive measures from the IDF.
