Senior Israeli Security Source: Hamas Preparing for Attack, Awaiting Right Moment

A senior Israeli security official has revealed to Channel 14 News that Hamas is significantly increasing its readiness for renewed fighting and is preparing for a preemptive attack, though a specific date has not yet been set. The official indicated that due to the ongoing election period, Israel is not currently pursuing offensive actions against Hamas.

According to the source, Hamas is actively recruiting new, young operatives, including individuals as young as 17, and providing them with accelerated, week-long training primarily focused on weapons use. This recruitment and training are part of Hamas's efforts to rebuild its capabilities.

Separately, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed intelligence and documentation showing that the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia, northern Gaza, is being used by Hamas. While functioning as a clinic during the day, the hospital complex and its surroundings are allegedly exploited by the terrorist organization as a hub for its activities, including planting explosives. The IDF stated that Hamas operatives were documented burying an explosive device near the hospital. This alleged use of a medical facility, with patients, staff, and civilians present, constitutes human shielding and violates international law.

The IDF noted that the hospital and its vicinity have been previously used by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad for terrorist activities against Israeli civilians and forces. Despite repeated calls from Israel and the IDF to avoid military use of medical facilities, such exploitation has continued. In December 2024, Israeli forces operating in the hospital area discovered significant military equipment and weaponry and apprehended over 240 Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives.
