Iran says Strait of Hormuz closed to all vessels, including tankers and commercial ships
The emergency command of the Iranian armed forces, Khatam al-Anbiya, announced that the Strait of Hormuz is closed “from this moment on” to all types of vessels, including tankers and commercial ships, because of “insecurity in the area.”
The statement said the decision was made following the start of American strikes in several locations in southern Hormozgan province. It also said vessel traffic in the strait would be directed by Iran, and denied an American claim that a ship had passed through the strait.
