An unidentified individual hurled stones from a bridge onto northbound lanes of the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv on Sunday morning, endangering drivers traveling at approximately 90 km/h near the Halacha interchange. Several vehicles sustained damage, including a Tesla and a taxi traveling alongside it, as captured on video. The Tesla's cameras recorded the suspect throwing the stones and then fleeing on foot toward Ramat Gan, according to the car's owner.

Edward Rees, the driver of the damaged Tesla, described the frightening moments to Ynet. "I was driving north in the left lane. When I got under the bridge, I suddenly saw stones, actual rocks, flying towards my lane and the one next to me. We were going 80 to 90 km/h and I didn't have time to react. I heard the stones hitting my car. Luckily, I got off easy." He stated that the taxi beside him likely absorbed most of the projectiles. "My car sustained some paint damage and there were a few hits on the windshield, but it didn't break. The taxi next to me probably took most of the rocks."

Rees initially thought the incident might be related to construction work. After parking, he reviewed his Tesla's footage and saw a person standing on the bridge emptying a bag or bucket of stones onto traffic before running off towards Ramat Gan. He realized how dangerous the situation could have been, noting that the noise made him believe the windshield had been hit and that rocks could have penetrated the vehicle.

Rees has filed a police report and intends to obtain higher-quality footage from his car's cameras to help identify the damaged taxi. He expressed concern that the perpetrator might repeat the act, potentially causing a fatality. "My fear is that this might be a nationalistic incident or someone who could just come back and do it again. Next time, it could kill someone," he warned, adding that the incident has left him feeling unsafe on the highway.

Tel Aviv Central Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
