Two security personnel from the Samaria region were arrested Sunday morning for questioning by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) on suspicion of involvement in an assault against Palestinians near the village of Aqraba about a month ago. The arrests are part of a joint investigation by the Shin Bet and the inter-organizational command in the Judea and Samaria region, which deals with suspicions of extreme violence by Jews against Palestinians. The Military Police are also involved in the investigation.

An unusual order was issued preventing the two detainees from meeting with a lawyer. The Honenu organization has filed an urgent appeal against this order. One of the detainees' families is a bereaved family. A hearing regarding their case is expected to take place Sunday at the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court.

The wife of one of the detainees reported that family members were surprised at 5:00 AM when a large police force arrived at their home to carry out the arrest. She stated that at least 15 officers, some masked, participated in the operation and refused to tell her husband the reason for his arrest. Officers also confiscated her husband's weapon, communication devices, and a Ranger ATV.

Attorney Nati Rom of the Honenu organization filed an urgent appeal to the Lod District Court, demanding the cancellation of the order and permission for the detainees to receive legal counsel. Rom sharply criticized the use of these exceptional investigative measures against security personnel, stating, "The use of the Shin Bet's most draconian tools against our finest sons during wartime is inconceivable. These are tools that should be reserved for terrorists, and they are being used against security personnel who have dedicated their best years to defending the country's security. Preventing a meeting with a lawyer is reserved for extreme, exceptional cases only."

Meanwhile, the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court extended a gag order on the investigation, prohibiting the publication of further details about the suspicions or the incident for which the two were arrested.
