Deputy Inspector General of the Defense System, Brigadier General Yogev Bar-Sheshet, is resigning from the IDF following an investigation into allegations of misconduct. The probe, initiated by the Military Police (MP), centered on suspicions of abusing his authority and exposing classified information to unauthorized individuals. The MP determined that the alleged actions did not cross the threshold for criminal charges and transferred the case for a command review by Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Tamar Yaday.

After a review lasting several weeks, it was concluded that Bar-Sheshet acted in an unethical manner unbecoming of an officer of his rank. Consequently, it was decided that he would leave the military. Bar-Sheshet had been slated for a senior appointment as a member of the General Staff Forum and Chief Safety Officer, but this appointment was canceled due to the affair, and he will now conclude his service.

The IDF Spokesperson stated that the MP received a complaint from a soldier alleging harassment by a brigadier general, stemming from a personal dispute. Following a review by military prosecution, it was found that there was no justification for a criminal investigation, and the case was passed to the Deputy Chief of Staff for a command review. The officer then requested immediate resignation. The allegations were examined by the MP and reviewed by the military prosecution.

The case began in early May when a complaining officer submitted a detailed written report to his superiors. This report reached senior IDF officials, leading to an investigation by the MP's special investigations unit, in cooperation with the IDF's Information Security Department and under the supervision of the Chief. Bar-Sheshet previously served in various command and staff roles, including Deputy Head of the Civil Administration and Deputy Commander of the Steel Formation. He was injured by shrapnel in Zeitun in May 2024.
