Montana Highway Patrol stopped an unusually designed car shaped like a giant banana while it was traveling on Interstate 90 near Billings, Montana. In a post on social media, the police said they have pulled over speeding drivers, distracted drivers, and other unusual vehicles, but this one stood out, adding that traffic laws also apply to fruit.
The driver and creator of the vehicle, Steve Braithwaite, said he is used to being stopped because of the car’s appearance. “For the first eight or nine years I was probably the most pulled-over person in the United States,” he said.
This time, however, the stop was not about the car’s odd design. Boxes placed on the cargo rack partially blocked the license plate, which reads “Split,” a reference to the banana split dessert. Police explained the issue to Braithwaite and released him without a ticket.
Braithwaite said the interaction ended amicably. “It was a valid claim, but we had a good conversation,” he summed up.
