Maccabi Netanya announced on Thursday that it has signed 26-year-old right-back Alon Azogi, who played last season for Bnei Sakhnin. The club activated Azogi’s release clause, paying Sakhnin 200,000 shekels for the transfer.
Azogi joins recent arrivals Grigori Morozov and Dor Hugi, both of whom have already signed with Netanya and trained with the team for the first time. The signing is being described as a surprise move for the club.
Azogi came through Maccabi Haifa’s youth system and later moved to the youth team of Ironi Kiryat Shmona. His senior career has included spells at Hapoel Acre, M.S. Kafr Qasim, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Petah Tikva before he arrived at Bnei Sakhnin.
At Sakhnin, Azogi enjoyed a successful season last year, which led Netanya to move quickly to secure him on a two-year contract.
