In Thursday night’s episode of “Married at First Sight,” the show’s psychologists examine one of the most talked-about tensions between Neta and Avichayr. In an exclusive preview, psychologist Gilad Meiri addresses their heated argument during a joint shopping trip, when Neta told Avichayr, “I am not willing for us to play this game now of being a couple buying things for ourselves.”
Meiri says the outburst in the store is really evidence of Neta’s deeper internal struggle. He explains that as long as Neta stays in the role of the one who gives and takes care of others, she functions well. He says she is used to driving north, waiting for Avichayr to return from reserve duty, and making sure he has hot food ready.
The problem, the psychologists say, comes when she is asked to move into a setting that celebrates their relationship and focuses on her as well. At that point, she has great difficulty relaxing into the experience.
According to the show’s psychologists, Neta’s reaction stems from anxiety, which prevents her from letting go of the tension of the war and military routine and simply enjoying time together as a couple.
